All the 11’s
Eleven seemed to be a significant number for one of the teams in last week’s Charity Golf day organised by Taunton Vale Rotary Club.
Regional surveyors, Symonds and Sampson, sponsored the 11th hole and entered a team.
Their team ended the day in 11th place with a score of one hundred and eleven. They were due to tee off at 10.04 but one team member was a few minutes late and yes, they started at 10.11.
Team captain Phil Greenway who has just taken over as President of Taunton Vale Rotary Club, said: “The event was fantastic, the weather was kind and the turnout of teams excellent after the Covid restrictions we have had to endure. Next year my company will be looking to sponsor the first hole but we’ll have to get there in time to start on pole and maybe improve our golf just a bit to finish first! ”.
“For one final elevenincidence – our Golf Day was held eleven weeks before Taunton Vale Rotary’s next major fundraising event ‘Moonraker’ on October 2nd. You can find details at https://tauntonvalerotary.org.uk/moonraker-challenge . Don’t leave it until the eleventh hour to enter.”
The Golf Day made a profit of nearly £5,000 which will be spent helping local and national charities.
