Boxes of Christmas Cheer
Taunton Vale Rotarians have continued their tradition of sending shoe boxes packed with Christmas Goodies to children and disadvantaged adults in Eastern and Central Europe. Many of the thirty eight packages this year are on their way to families effected by the war in Ukraine.
The contents are collected and packed by colleagues from Taunton Vale Inner Wheel. Some of the items this year have been hand-made by members and other supporters. Rotarians pay for the boxes and delivery to the final destinations using the Rotary Shoe Box scheme www.rotaryshoebox.org, a not-for-profit charity run entirely by volunteers with no paid employees.
Inner Wheel International lead Margaret Austin says "it is a very rewarding way for our two Clubs to work in partnership for a very worthwhile cause."
Taunton Vale Rotary president, Kathryn Robinson-Burge adds: “We are delighted to be working alongside our Inner Wheel partners. With so much suffering we hope that these boxes will bring a bit of extra Christmas cheer where it is badly needed”.
