Dementia Sport and Social Boost

Dementia Sport and Social Boost

Taunton Vale Rotary has made a further donation to help to secure the future of Together in Sport (TIS) in Somerset.

TIS is run by locally based Reminiscence Learning in conjunction with the Somerset Cricket Foundation. People with dementia and their care support (usually spouses) meet together for an informal social morning over cups of tea, coffee and biscuits with the chance to be involved in a variety of games, quizzes and sporting activities. Many people walk around the cricket ground for some additional exercise and return for more refreshments and games.

The morning is designed to give everyone a relaxing and sport-related time and a chance to forget about the issues of living with dementia and all its repercussions for a couple of hours.

TIS has been running for over 2 years and is held every Monday at The Stragglers Bar at The County Ground, between 10am and 12.00.

The TIS team is always looking for volunteers to help run the mornings and if anyone is interested in helping on their free Monday mornings please email hello@tauntonvalerotary.org for more information.

The £500 donation from Taunton Vale Rotarians will help with running costs and the purchase of new sporting equipment for use at the sessions.
