How we're fighting fire in Nepal
Life Saving in Nepal
Working with the other Rotary Club in Taunton and the charity Fire Aid, RC Taunton Vale is providing £4,000 towards the purchase cutting and lifting equipment for the Fire and Rescue service in Nepal.
A person involved in a Road Traffic Accident in Nepal is 20 times more likely to die or have a life changing injury than in the UK. Partly this is because the country has no emergency service equipped to release casualties from the wreckage of damaged vehicles. The Rotary funds will pay for the purchase of at least 3 sets of Holmatro lifting and cutting equipment. Fire Aid will deliver the kit and once international travel resumes, two volunteers from Somerset will fly out to Nepal to provide training in its use and maintenance.
Nepalese Rotarians will monitor the progress of the project.
