Joyeux Anniversaire
Taunton Vale Rotary’s twin club in France has been celebrating its 70th anniversary. The Rotary Club in Redon in southern Brittany was founded in June 1956 and has been serving its community ever since.
More than 70 members, friends and special guests marked the birthday with a dinner dance in the French town’s community centre.
Taunton Vale Rotary was represented by Richard Austin. To mark the long association between the two clubs, Richard presented a cheque for 700 euros to the current Redon president, Cecile Chauvel. This will be added to the profit from the ‘soiree’ and donated to a leading paediatric cancer charity.
Making the presentation Richard said: “Taunton Vale Rotarians, past and present, congratulate you all for seventy years of service to your local community in Redon and to the world-wide Rotary movement.
“We give you, as a club and individually, you our very best wishes for the future.”
The evening concluded with dancing to disco hits of the last seven decades.
