Local Charity winners

More than 80 contestants crowded St Andrew’s Church Hall in Taunton for a charity fundraising quiz.

The event, organised by Taunton Vale Rotary, raised around eleven hundred pounds for Somerset Counselling Centre and other local charities.

14 teams pitted their wits to find the answers to numerous clues whilst enjoying chicken (or vegetarian) casserole and a choice of deserts.

The Winning team in the fun, fundraising event was ‘Sarie Chiefs’ from Monkton Heathfield, closely followed by ‘Long Acre’ and ‘All the President’s Men and Women’.

President Martin Lock says: “Everyone seemed to have a good time and I want to thank all those who turned out on what was a very wet evening. ”

Event organiser, Richard Austin adds: “I’d particularly like to acknowledge the support we received from local businesses including Mr Miles Tea Rooms, the new County Motor Museum, The Hair Studio, Nicky’s Flower Studio and Tesco, Asda and Morrisons supermarkets, together with individual donors who all provided some super prizes for the raffle.”
