Orange the World
Taunton Vale Rotarians have joined with members of Inner Wheel, Mothers’ Union and Soroptimists in a bid to help end digital violence against women and girls.
Violence against women isn’t new and globally effects one in three women. During 2024 in the UK, gender violence accounted for around 20% of recorded crimes and there was a 40% increase in online abuse.
‘Orange the World’ is a United Nations campaign to end Gender-based violence.
Between forty and fifty supporters, all wearing something ‘orange’, walked from Vivary Park through the centre of Taunton to the site of the Winter Fest at Somerset County Cricket Ground. The group was joined Liv Barnes and Ellie Anderson from Somerset County Cricket Club.
