Spreading happiness.

Spreading happiness.

Taunton Vale Rotary and Inner Wheel have combined again to send gifts to disadvantaged children, teenagers and adults in Central and Eastern Europe via the Rotary Shoebox scheme.

Many of the gifts this year are hand made by members and supporters.  The boxes also include practical items ranging from warm hats and gloves to tooth brushes, pens and pencils.

Already in 2023, over 22 thousand filled boxes have been distributed by the Rotary scheme, mainly in Romania and Moldova.  Some of the recipients shown in the picture above are refugee children from neighbouring Ukraine.  With a boost in the run up to Christmas, the number of boxes sent out is likely to double before the year end.

Taunton Vale Rotary President, Martin Lock, says: “I am delighted that once again our two Clubs are working in partnership for this worthwhile cause which spreads a little happiness to disadvantaged people.”
