Tee-rific golf day result
More than three and a half thousand pounds has been raised at Taunton Vale Rotary’s annual Charity Golf Event. Nearly 100 golfers in 24 teams took part with the winning team being from Greenslade Taylor Hunt with a fabulous score of 106.
The Taunton Vale club’s main charities for this year are St Margaret’s Somerset Hospice and the provision of Kit Epipens and appropriate training to one of Taunton’s Secondary Schools.
Club President, Tony Blackshaw says: “I want to say a big hearty THANK YOU to everyone who took part and helped out yesterday at Oake Manor Golf Club at our Annual Golf Day.
“The weather was kind to us and everyone competing said how much they enjoyed the day. The staff at Oake made us feel very welcome, as they always do, which makes so much difference. I was pleased to meet some familiar faces amongst the competitors and I thank all of those who wielded golf clubs and propelled golf balls in an effort to win the top prizes.”
Event organiser Clive Thorn added: “As usual we want to thank Mike King for allowing us to have use of the course at Oake Manor and the wonderful staff who looked after everyone so well.

Meanwhile, members of Taunton Vale Inner Wheel, provided tea, coffee and home-made cake at the halfway point in return for donations to their international charity Himalayan Children. This Somerset based organisation funds secondary school opportunities for girls from isolated, mountainous communities in the Kashmir region. Donations to the fund raised almost £340.
