U.S. and Canada Friendship Exchange
A group of Rotarians has recently returned from a Friendship Exchange to the western United States and Canada.
International friendship exchanges are designed to foster cultural awareness, peace and friendship between groups from different nationalities. During this trip, members were hosted by Rotarian families in Walla Walla, Richland and Spokane, all in Washington State, before moving on to Grand Forks and Cranbrook in British Columbia.

“We had a fantastic time”, says Richard Austin of Taunton Vale Rotary. “A range of scenery for sight-seeing, but we also got to visit Rotary projects, local industries, including a legal cannabis farm and processing unit, together with sporting and musical events, a hospital and university. It’s a terrific way to get below the skin of different communities. You gain so much more than a traditional holiday visit.”

We are looking forward to hosting Rotarians from the same areas of the U.S. and Canada who will be visiting Somerset on a reciprocal visit in September.
