Thanks from the "Roof of the World"!
Rotarians from Nepal have sent a plaque to the members of Taunton Vale Rotary Club in appreciation of their support for the Fire and Rescue services of Kathmandu and the surrounding area. Working with Taunton Rotary Club and a Rotary Foundation District Grant, four sets of specialised equipment for cutting people out of crashed cars and other vehicles were purchased and recently sent out to the Himalayan kingdom.
Until now, none of the three fire stations in Kathmandu Valley had any equipment to do this and in consequence there is a high death toll following road accidents. Alongside the UK charity Fire Aid the Rotary Clubs also recently facilitated a training session for the local rescue teams to ensure they get best use out of the new equipment.
