When Rotary meets Royalty

When Rotary meets Royalty

Our Rotary Club was accorded a great honour when one of our members was invited to meet HRH Prince Edward at the Bath & West Show on Monday 17th May this year.  Paul Hughes, who was our Club President in 2016/17 was invited to speak about one of the Charities we have been supporting and for which he is Chair of Trustees, the Taunton East Development Trust.

Confidence not Cash – Rotary service in Taunton

Rotary Club Taunton Vale likes to be involved with charities where change and improvement can be made by offering skills, guidance and experience, rather than just donating money.

Taunton East Development Trust (TEDT) is a classic example. TEDT supports around 6,000 residents living in a highly deprived area of Taunton. Poverty, drug abuse, isolation, unemployment and poor educational attainment are some of the challenges faced every day.

Help for Self-help

Rotary Club Members are key trustees of the charity and also support its activities, aimed at improving residents’ daily lives, building self-confidence, life skills and health.

The impact of RCTV is leading to financial stability, a wide body of stakeholders, and the ability to adopt a 5-year strategy which will see the charity become self-sustaining.
